FeaturesBrother - PC72 2 Refill Rolls For PC70 For T94, T96 & T98 FeaturesSKU Number : PC72RF Warranty : 1 Year Brother InfoBrother is one of those companies that seem to have been selling printers and faxes forever. But it's still worth asking yourself, how much do you really know about the business behind the brand name? Founded more than a century ago in Nagoya, Japan, Brother was one of the first office equipment suppliers to see the true possibilities of globalisation. It may surprise you to learn that the company has maintained a constant presence in Europe since all the way back in 1958. Brother Europe's headquarters are located in Manchester and the brand even sponsored Manchester City Football Club from 1989 to 1999. Nowadays, it boasts manufacturing plants everywhere from Japan and Malaysia to the US. Underlining the company's global credentials, its products are now sold in more than 100 countries across the globe. So what is it that Brother sells? Not many people know that Brother used to make motorbikes but it has since consolidated its efforts on three core businesses, namely information, fashion and communications. In terms of office procurement, however, the brand is most closely associated with printers and fax machines. Brother sells an array of laser printers, label printers and multi-function units that can handle other common office tasks such as photocopying and scanning. Popular units include the DCP-9045CDN, the MFC-9840CDW and the HL-4040CN. Meanwhile, Brother offers a selection of laser, inkjet and ink film fax machines that combine outstanding performance with robust build quality. Little wonder, then, that devices such as the MFC-7440N, MFC-885CW and the FAX-1560 have remained so popular. Finally, what sets Brother apart from other manufacturers? Down the years, the company has built up an enviable reputation as a leading supplier of eco-friendly office equipment. As well as achieving the ISO 14001 Environmental Management, it uses recycled packaging materials wherever possible and meets more of its energy needs through renewable sources with every passing year. In other words, Brother is a company that takes eco-friendly office equipment seriously. So if you need to upgrade your work printer or fax machine, why not take a closer look at the Brother range? You'll be buying from a company that combines the low prices of a multinational company with strong UK roots and green credentials that are truly second to none. Fax Machines InfoThe word Fax is short for facsimile from Latin fac simile, "make similar", i.e. "make a copy" and is a telecommunications technology used to transfer copies of documents over a telephone network. The word Telefax is short for Telefacsimilie and means “make a copy at a distance”, this device is also known as a Telecopier in some industries. If you want to send documents to people that are far away, faxes have the distinct advantage over delivered mail in that the delivery is instantaneous.A fax machine consists of an image scanner, a printer, a modem and sometimes a phone all in one unit. The scanner converts the content on a document into a digital image; the modem send the data through a phone line to the desired device and the printer at the other end prints a copy of the document. Some fax machines can be set up with a computer and the individual components; the scanner, printer, and occasionally the modem, can be used independently. These devices are called multifunction printers (MFP). Devices for transmitting printed documents electrically have existed since the mid to late 19th century, the modern fax machines became popular from the 1070’s onwards as the technology advanced and the cost of production dropped. Digital fax machines first became popular in Japan where they had a clear advantage over competing technologies like the teleprinter, since at the time it was faster to handwrite kanji than to type it, by the mid 1980’s fax machines were popular around the globe. Many businesses are turning to internet based systems to send and receive information and documents but many still maintain some kind of fax capacity. In many corporate environments, standalone fax machines have been replaced by "fax servers" and other computerized systems capable of receiving and storing incoming faxes electronically, and then routing them to users on paper or via secure email. Such systems have the advantage of reducing costs by eliminating unnecessary printouts and reducing the number of phone lines needed by an office.
