Polycom was founded in 1990 and is already an industry leader and successful end-to-end provider of Unified Collaborative Communications-converged voice, video, web, and data solutions for emerging broadband networks.

Initially Polycom was a research and development business. In September 1992 they began shipping their first voice communications product, the SoundStation.
